Alternatives International

Who are we?

We are social and political movements struggling against neoliberalism, imperialism, social injustice and war. We are building solidarity between social movements at the local, national and international level. Our approach is both concrete (action-oriented) and intellectual (creating new paradigms). Neoliberalism is currently the dominant form of capitalism, against which several social movements have fought over the years under the banner of «socialism». However that banner has been partially destroyed with the collapse of the Berlin Wall and social movements all over the world are struggling to develop new alternatives.

Israeli Attacks on Gaza: Both Reckless and Failed

Friday 23 January 2009 by Michel Warshawski
Michael Warschawski One single, solitary thing will be noted to Ehud Barak’s credit: in contrast to many others, he did not dub the bullying rage of the Israeli army in Gaza as a “war”, but made due with the term “operation”. War is a concept that immediately results in the orgasm of numerous (...) > continue

Time for a New Divestment Campaign

Tuesday 20 January 2009 by KEVIN ALEXANDER GRAY
Barack Obama’s inauguration coming as we celebrate of Martin Luther King Day predictably draws linkages between the two. Many use Obama’s election to claim a realization of the “dream.” Others mumble something about a post-racial America. I suspect that King, if alive, would reject such nonsense. (...) > continue

Components of Power: An Israeli’s Argument Against the Attack on Gaza

Monday 19 January 2009 by Haim Baram, Hagada Hasmalit
During the entire week I read a majority of the responses in the major (Hebrew language) websites and the letters to the editor in the three major Israeli newspapers. There were sensitive and intelligent responses, but the vast majority were bloodthirsty, aggressive, primitive and (...) > continue

The Plot Against Gaza

From diet to shoah
Sunday 18 January 2009 by Jonathan Cook
Israel has justified its assault on Gaza as entirely defensive, intended only to stop Hamas firing rockets on Israel’s southern communities. Although that line has been repeated unwaveringly by officials since Israel launched its attack on 27 December, it bears no basis to reality. Rather, this (...) > continue
